The state of Pennsylvania has approved the Atlantispa SG-2000 as a hygienic device for use in spas and salons statewide. Accoring to Hilarene Staller of the Pennsylvania Cosmetology Board, the approval was decided upon on December 12th, 2007.

According to Michael Grady, owner of Atlantispa, the prior problems with featuring hydrotherapy in salons had to do with jetted and piped-in tubs. "State regulations made it very labor intensive to effectively clean out the jets and pipes in hydrotherapy tubs, which meant either a very high cost, or more predictably, the exclusion of hydrotherapy services. This is why it is strange that American spas rarely feature hydrotherapy as a means towrd beauty and wellness, even though the definition of spa originally always meant implied hydrotherapy. This is why this is a major breakthrough with this approval. We can now proceed at least in one state to get our product out to to the market in spas, wellness centers, salons and doctor's offices. Owners can confidently proceed to include hydrotherapy for their guests with an SG-2000 spa machine", said Grady.

Grady stated the widespread use of the SG-2000 would increase the confidence of guests as the machines promote beauty and wellness. "Beauty and wellness go hand in hand. Soner or later spas will be educating their guests more that beauty and wellness starts on the inside and radiates out where everyone can see it. The possibility of the culture returning back to a natural bath culture is feasible, once this thought process catches on", said Grady, who mentioned that ancient cultures were founded on hot springs and bath cultures as a means of preventing diseases and staying well.
