Employee Hydrotherapy Program |

A Davenport employer has developed a wellness program for his employees featuring hydrotherapy, or more specifically, “balneotherapy”, according to Michael Grady, Director of Visiting Angels homecare.
 The wellness program features two private hydrotherapy rooms and a separate drinking water dispenser in a relaxation lounge. Caregivers and staff of Visiting Angels use the lounge for hydrotherapy spas, after which they fill their containers full with purified alkaline drinking water for take-home. The spa, drinking water, and wellness consulting are at no cost to the employees as part of their health and wellness benefits package. Caregivers use the spa between caregiving shifts, which take place in scattered residences throughout the Quad Cities area.
The retail value of services and product benefits run a monthly average of up to $175 for full-time and $110 for a part-time caregiver. Said Grady, “I've found that it pays to care for caregivers who give of themselves in a trying work environment. Keeping my caregivers healthy and productive improves retention, decreases sick day call-ins and on-the-job injuries, enhances performance, lowers worker's compensation costs, and ultimately results in happier clients. For us, a healthy and happy caregiver always precedes a strong company bottom line.”
The spa, located next to Visiting Angels at 235 W 35th St in Davenport, is also open to the walk-in public as a retail hydrotherapy spa called Atlantispa.
